How to Maintain 12v 100ah Lithium Ion Deep Cycle Battery

During the daily use of the lithium battery pack, we also need to maintain the battery pack to make it work properly. Therefore, when using a lithium battery pack, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • Regularly check and maintain the performance of lithium batteries
  • Avoid overcharging and overdischarging, try to charge and discharge within a safe voltage range, and do not use the battery for a long time
  • Timely remove dust and foreign objects and other sundries in the battery pack
  • Prevent external short circuit or partial discharge from happening
  • It is strictly forbidden to use any method to repair the lithium battery pack or replace any parts
  • Regularly test the performance of the lithium battery. It is recommended to conduct a charge and discharge test every quarter. Specific testing items include: internal resistance, internal pressure, capacity, rate discharge capacity and rate discharge time.
  • Keep the battery pack clean and hygienic to prevent damage to the battery. Periodically check the terminal connections of the battery pack.

1. Check the battery pack

Too high or too low voltage will damage the battery.

  • If there is a short circuit in the battery pack, you need to cut off the power immediately, open the battery cover, and use a multimeter to check whether the resistance value of the short circuit is 0Ω.
  • If the battery pack is abnormally discharged, for example, one or more batteries in the battery pack are open circuited, you need to disconnect the power immediately, find out the reason, and repair it according to the specific situation.
  • Check the battery for damage. If the battery casing or accessories are found to be damaged during use, the battery needs to be replaced immediately.
  • During long-term storage, it is necessary to check whether the voltage and capacity of the battery pack are abnormal.

2. Connect the battery

  • Generally, there are two types of connection terminals for lithium battery packs, one is the positive and negative connection terminals, and the other is the battery connection terminal.
  • Positive and negative connection terminals: When connecting, first remove the protective tape or insulating tape on the back of the positive and negative electrodes. Then insert the two copper wires into the positive and negative connectors respectively, and then bridge the ends of the copper wires with wires to ensure that the copper wires have a good insulation effect. Finally, wrap the positive electrode with insulating tape, and the same for the negative electrode. If it is necessary to connect two copper wires, it must be ensured that the backs of the positive and negative electrodes are protected by copper wire insulation.
  • Cell connection terminal: This is the most prone to problems in the battery pack. If the positive or negative poles between the batteries are not properly connected, a short circuit will occur between the two batteries, resulting in reduced capacity or abnormal phenomena. Therefore, when connecting, it should be noted that the direction of the positive and negative electrodes, the negative electrode and the positive connecting wire should be consistent.

3. Avoid short circuit

A short circuit in the battery pack will cause violent chemical reactions inside the battery pack, and in severe cases, the battery pack will explode. Therefore, we need to avoid short circuits inside the battery pack during use. At the same time, during normal use, the battery pack should be maintained to avoid short circuits inside the lithium battery pack. If there is an internal short circuit in the lithium battery pack, the following methods can be used to deal with it:

4. Battery maintenance

1. Use a charger with a lithium battery to charge the lithium battery.
2. When replacing the lithium battery, you need to remove the old lithium battery, put it into a new lithium battery pack, and then connect the new lithium battery.
3. When using a new lithium battery or replacing an old lithium battery pack, do not charge continuously for more than 12 hours on the same charging device.
4. During use, if abnormalities are found in the battery, stop using it immediately.
