Commercial Battery Storage Projects
C&I BESS Projects
Project Brief
As Northern Europe accelerates its transition toward renewable energy, industrial and commercial sectors face the dual challenge of managing volatile electricity prices and ensuring grid resilience. In South Ostrobothnia, Finland, a groundbreaking Commercial & Industrial (C&I) energy storage project has successfully gone live. Featuring a cluster of 9 units of the Dawnice BS07-265-ES-X All-in-One Energy Storage System, this installation delivers a total capacity of 1,125 kW / 2,385 kWh (approx. 2.38MWh), setting a new benchmark for localized energy management in the Nordic climate.

Background
South Ostrobothnia (Etelä-Pohjanmaa), known for its entrepreneurial spirit and expanding green infrastructure, experiences distinct seasonal energy demands. With freezing winter temperatures dipping well below 0°C and intense summer daylight, C&I enterprises need an energy solution that is both incredibly robust and highly efficient.
The client required an outdoor energy storage solution capable of:
-
Peak Shaving & Load Shifting: Reducing high demand charges during peak industrial hours.
-
Climate Resilience: Operating flawlessly in harsh Nordic weather conditions.
-
Space Efficiency: Fitting a high-capacity system into a constrained outdoor footprint without compromising safety or ventilation.
Project Highlights
1. Ultra-High Energy Density with 314Ah Cells
By utilizing industry-leading 314Ah high-capacity cells paired with advanced Cell-to-Pack (CTP) technology, Dawnice significantly improved the energy density of each cabinet. This allowed the project to reach a massive 2.38MWh total capacity while minimizing the physical footprint in the South Ostrobothnia facility.
2. Zero-Gap, Space-Saving Layout
The installation landscape highlights one of the system’s best design features: Flexible & Space-Saving Deployment. Thanks to an innovative front-in/rear-out thermal design, the 9 cabinets can be aligned side-by-side with virtually zero gaps. The optimized airflow paths maintain thermal stability across the entire row, making the layout exceptionally clean and compact.
3. Extreme Climate Adaptability (Down to -30°C)
Finland’s winters are notoriously unforgiving. The BS07-265-ES-X is engineered with an Intelligent Air Cooling system and wide-temperature architecture that supports stable operations from -30°C to 55°C. Furthermore, the system utilizes PCS waste heat recovery to drastically reduce auxiliary cooling and heating energy consumption, ensuring high round-trip efficiency even in mid-winter.
4. Multi-Layer Safety Assurance
Safety is paramount for C&I deployments. The Dawnice cabinets feature a robust dual fire suppression system, combining cluster-level aerosol with cabin-level water mist. Paired with an intelligent monitoring system that tracks real-time voltage and temperature, the facility is comprehensively protected against thermal runaway risks.
