In the heart of the Swiss Alps, a premier marble processing facility has achieved energy independence by deploying a high-performance 400kWh DC-coupled Energy Storage System (ESS). This industrial-grade solution, featuring an integrated Power Conversion System (PCS), is designed to stabilize the facility’s heavy power demands, providing a sustainable and cost-effective energy framework for high-precision stone masonry.

Background

Marble processing involves heavy machinery for cutting, grinding, and polishing, which creates significant peak demand charges and puts stress on the local grid.

  • The Challenge: High electricity costs during peak production hours and the risk of voltage instability affecting sensitive CNC stone-cutting equipment.

  • The Objective: To implement a robust peak-shaving strategy and integrate renewable energy for a lower carbon footprint in line with Swiss environmental regulations.

  • Advanced PCS Integration: The integrated Power Conversion System manages complex bi-directional energy flows, offering millisecond-level response times for Peak Shaving and Load Shifting.

  • Grid Stability & Power Quality: The system acts as a buffer, filtering grid harmonics and protecting expensive marble-cutting machinery from voltage drops or surges.
